I don't mind the poor feller following his dreams, everyone should have something to have hope for, to have a goal of. But he really needs help. I'm not talking about his Nazi admins or moderators, or the game testers that pay him to find bugs and "test" the game, (which I believe game testers should be compensated for their work, not the other way around,) but rather the help in the form of other programmers, musicians, and artists.
I can understand that he may want to fill the artist slot, so everything looks uhh...sameish? Of the same origin? belonging to the same world? There is a word for it, I think, but I cannot think of it. As far as audio creation goes, he has the help of "voice actors/actresses," but that is two sandwiches short of a piknik compared to making music. at this stage, music is pretty much not as important, but should be on the back burner at least. Then you have the programming. The nitty gritty of ->=X+5, but he does not want to hire someone for this position because of his own fears, or whatever reason.
The point is, David could be light years ahead of where he is if he just accepted more help on his game, instead pushing himself into a corner and making um...backwards progress on his game. I say backwards progress, since it's pretty evident that after 10 years in limbo hell, he has started over AGAIN, but for good reasons, (I hope.) Yes, flash is dead/dying, and it was probably a good move too move to (move to move to move to,) Unity.
Well, I have not had a chance to play the Unity version as of yet, and he is just crawling at a snails pace with each introduction of a new playable character.
I suspect it will get worse. I say, because all of you by now know of the 3D environment with 2D characters, right? Well, he plans of making the characters be able to turn around in frontal view, quarter side view, side view, quarter back view, and back view. Think of all that, with walking animations, and with how many characters in game? Was the target number 150? The game will likely never be finished.
That is, unless he gets the serious help he needs. IIR, he had help before, (Fossil, among others,) to help draw and program. Things were being put out fast. But there were falling outs, and now the poor feller has some trust issues with co-workers, (or underlings, employees, should be the correct term.)
...Hell, should I just mention that re-doing a character is something he does all the time too? I can get that you are your worst critique, but for fucks sake, he tries to be a perfectionist and it only slows him down. doing everything himself, will get him no where. What he needs to do is delegate.
