Oh hey, I know this game. Not really into the whole genital torture thing, but it's kinda neat to capture prisoners, chat with them for a bit and do whatever you want with them.

The guy runs a poll on his patreon every now and again for what features should be added to the game, too.

Hello everyone. Bad news, I'm sorry to say.

I'm currently undergoing some legal consultations concerning the contents of this game and need to hold off on publishing the next version until I find out more. The result of this might be a requirement to either change the way it's distributed, its availability to the public, or even the kind of content within (which would lead to the prior versions having to be removed).

I'm not happy to be doing this, but the potential threat of legal troubles, even if catastrophically unlikely, has caused me no small deal of distress and anxiety, making it difficult to focus on anything else.

I'm due to find out more next week, at which point I'll post another update on the matter. But regardless of the outcome, I'm deactivating billing for the following month, and in case of a change in content, I'll be offering refunds to backers upon request.

That's very fucking cynical, insensitive and oblivious of the situation at hand.

Motherfucker is getting hit by a lawsuit. They LEGIT cannot fucking work on the game because they need to resolve the legal troubles before deciding whether or not this project can continue, and if it can even continue in it's current form.

Not to mention that if does end up in a full fledged lawsuit, and they lose the court battle, they could end up having to pay 'reparations', not to mention any other possible punishments (If I remember correctly, some people uploading Nintendo ROMs even got sentenced to a couple of years in jail) that it may bundle up as well.

Just because half of your argument is right, in a general basis, does it mean it is valid in this context.

Put simply, if the maker continues with this game it is probably at the peril of being arrested and making case law history in Poland. Not a lawsuit. Not a copywrite issue.

Suppose the point I'm getting at is that he's in a no-win situation. He can't keep working on this game without becoming a test case, and the penalty for losing is becoming a sex criminal in Poland. It's not like he can take it to the court and then just stop if the court doesn't clear it.

In many ways, he's got it ten thousand times worse then a lawsuit over copying some code or a patented game mechanic.

I know the furry community has a history of artists just giving up, going nuclear, disappearing from the internet, etc. but Maskopatol had a good track record (as far as I remember). Stones was getting regular updates, and he was starting to see an exponential gain in patreons up until the announced suspension.

You don't just drop one of your most popular games out of nowhere without some SERIOUS reason. Hell, he had just announced a new functioning inventory system less than a month prior to the suspension.

Also, even if he was tired of working on it, he'd more than likely have just said so. Getting out of working on your game by telling your patrons that you're under a possible legal threat, especially if you still wanted to continue getting patreon money, is just nonsensical.

Frankly, I'm starting to wonder if he committed suicide. Haven't seen any activity from Maskopatol since January.
