Yeah, it's a bit of a workaround for Patreon's rules, as the site isn't actually supposed to host porn (ha. ha. ha.) The workaround is to have all the actual, on-screen NSFW stuff be behind a paywall, while anything SFW can be public. You can heavily censor anything in the public posts if you want, but you still have to be a bit careful.
The real cornerstone to this whole mess is that Paypal officially doesn't allow porn, BUT by having your lewd stuff behind a paywall, they can't check it themselves, and Patreon's staff kinda winkwinknudgenudge and whistle as they walk away, knowing they're taking a cut as long as you're not banned.
