It's just one of those things.
I'm guessing that they figure at least someone will fork over that kind of dosh, and that even if only a few people ever do, they'll have made what they wanted.
Often times, unreasonable price tags aren't a reflection of quality or etc, but are rather just an economically calculated assessment.
