I say he's not dead for 2 reasons. The nurse said they're actively monitoring his biotelemetry and there's a crash team on standby, they're the guys who are essentially the SWAT of high risk code blue patients and rush in immediately to resuscitate people. And I feel like the only way the author would end this type of scene would be with Nick and Judy embracing.

Admittedly the last one is just a personal feeling I've gotten from how the author has written this so far, but until the next release I'm gonna say he ain't gonna stay dead.

I love how the last speech-bubble obscures the EKG. that's a really brilliant little detail.

I kind of subverted it for myself by reading the last few panels all in one go though... rather than spaced out over a couple of days.

PS: As for where it goes now... "it's totally okay if you fall in love with July. I want you to be happy to the day we meet again." wouldn't be a bad way either.

It would be better if it were less disjointed - there's so much that's being alluded to that hasn't been gone over. What happened the first time? Hell, what happened again, exactly? Some sort of predator riots but the writing was very vague.

Nick obviously knew it was coming and was prepared for it.

The biggest pain I feel reading this isn't the emotion from the comic itself, but that someone with obviously a good amount of potential skill in both art and storytelling chooses to waste it on a long-winded non-canon fanfiction based on someone else's characters.

I understand wwhere you are coming from, but I'm also someone who has seen great, amazing, flawless even creative fanfiction projects like this get ditched out because the artists do figure out they're too good to be making stuff with "someone else´s character" and I often see that after doing this their next projects are often not as good, or even the great aspects of the fanfiction that could be recycled for an even better original project are abandoned and forgotten, so I also see all that as an even bigger waste; at the very least, if you start a project, finish it; or you may also get used to abandon things halfway through.

To be fair, the story points out that she isn't Judy, and more of a political tool to manipulate Nick.

She wasn't the standout of the story, Nick is, although I really enjoyed her talks with the other characters, especially Finnick. His funeral and that ending hit me in the feels.
