I was sympathetic for a while to Tigs' situation after his whole history with Fea and the orphanage was revealed. But as of now, I can't feel any pity for him at all. There's a point where acting bitter and antisocial towards everyone (regardless of how they treat you) stops being a prompt for sympathy and understanding and just becomes a sign that a character is simply a jerk.

Tigs has officially crossed this threshold. I don't care how bad his life has been up until this point. He's been given a warm, comfortable, safe home; he's been given a motherly figure in the form of Iris, and he's been treated better than that crotchety bitch hag at the orphanage ever treated him.

And now he's choosing to spit on all of that and say "Yeah, you're nice, fuck you anyway. I don't need your help."

He's pissy but I wouldn't necessarily say hateful. He doesn't hate Iris, and he clearly knows she's being nicer to him than she has to be.

But I think the clincher for him is that Iris *literally* lives in a hole in a mountainside.
