While I do not see the corruption part, this does not feel natural to me. When grieving over someone's death, having "results-oriented", casual sex for stress relief would probably hurt even more as the sense of loss would come back later even harder.
That said, it seems that Scappo discarded some of the things he had planned for the storyline of this comic so he could integrate this sex scene, more or less retconning the characters to fit the patreon votes. While this may or not be true, as he easily could have planned these two to be intimate regardless of the patreons' vote, it still feels "weird".
Generally, I think "artists' integrity" is to be protected; e.g. I would gladly support someone without having any say in his choices as to the story, characters, etc. as long as I like what he is producing.
