How you're raised can affect who you are. Some people become polar opposites of the people in their lives that they hate, others repeat the cycle and end up hating themselves for it.

Zig Zag's past has her learning to hate her abusive father, but she also learns to do what it takes to survive on her own and not wasting time on the little things (like the costs involved in things she wants, or consent with people who seem the least bit receptive). Other things this comic has demonstrated she's picked up from her past are an overprotective nature to those she's close with (family, literally everyone in her employ; who might as well be family), a lack of fear (when you defeat a life threatening fear as a child, little matters anymore), and open boundaries (as in, she has none, because her younger life never had them).

Yes she is essentially a few steps short of a rapist to new people, but at the very least she has shown she knows when to stop (even if it's after being socked, see the mid 2000 comics).
