1) it's nice that Jay is sticking to the poll he made, where human male/furry female, straight sex and character development were the top picks.
But...
2) this is the most cliche story of being saved by the 'enemy' and slowly following in love there is as he nurses her back to health. Also makes zero sense she's alive on the ground naked with a few scraps because I'd buy that if she passed out after winning... but there are no 'enemy' bodies... so whoever killed these wolves dragged off their dead and just left her...

In all seriousness, I'm excited for this. Nearly all of Naylor's Human on Anthro art is M Anthro/F Human. It's been YEARS since we've seen M Human/F Anthro from him. This is a breath of fresh air.
Also, being a guy, this is going to be 5-6x more appealing to me considering the "sex with an anthro girl" fantasy applies more to guys than not.

I mean, it's not entirely unreasonable. Stephen King's book, Misery, is based on a similar premise. A writer finds himself in the home of a fan after an accident. She nurses him back to health, only for him to find out he's now living in a gilded cage, forced to write by his "rescuer."

Plus, Naylor could go the whole "distrust between humans and furries because of bad relations or some shit" angle. Would be obvious as fuck, but it's not exactly a terrible set up.

Not OP but I agree with this totally. I don't get why so many people think that a story has to be totally 100% original for it to be good. Look at the recent debacle with the Star Wars sequels - there's a reason 'subverting expectations' is a meme now. Unexpected doesn't mean good.

You can tell an old, cliched or predictable story, but if you tell it well it will still be very satisfying to a lot of people. Going back to Star Wars, the original Star Wars trilogy is a pretty much point for point sci-fi retelling of the Hero's Journey/Monomyth seen so often in ancient Greece; the Lion King is literally Shakespeare's Hamlet in different clothes.

I'm not saying Naylor is a great storyteller, he's not. He's actually a pretty shit storyteller. But he is a good artist, in my opinion, so I'm actually kind of excited for this. I think bringing his artistic talent to more broadly appealing porn tropes is a whole lot better for everyone than focusing it on his own personal kinks that appeal to a far smaller audience.

To me it looks like the mate she had in page 8 is the one fucking in page 11, so he may of betrayed the pack to join up in the other at a higher rank so he can take advantage of the mating season. And she notices him and starts to cry as she sees the one she loved betray her pack and family, so she returns to the human as he's the only one who's left that she knows won't hurt her and is angered by the betrayal, though I may be wrong, but both wolves are dark furred and have thick black gear and large ears, compared to the light grey wolf swinging the club

I think it actually looks more like the one that is dead on page 2, tbh.

Also, something to think about: he put out a picture a few months ago to "explain" what some of the marking mean, though he expressly mentioned it only applies to future comics since the markings in his previous comics were pretty much just to look neat and had no specific meanings.

When the wolf girl got rescued she had the (faded) crescent painted on her stomach. It's worn away/washed off/missing after whatever time period passed to page 8, but when she returns on 12 she has painted it back on herself freshly.

Actually I'm the poster that called the first set a really cliched set up, but I will give credit where credit is due, that at least she didn't turn right around and back to bed or needed to be carried back or something...

Her going out to find the remains of her old pack strung up (why would the wolven do that?) and being unable to return to that culture is genuinely interesting compared to "guy saved me, reward with sex"...

However, I have some concerns...
Why do the white marked wolven hack up and string up the red marked wolven? I thought packs defeated and absorb the others... sure you kill each other in conflict but I think it'd be very hard for the new members of your pack to settle in when dad/mom/sister/brother's head is dangling from a spike at the edge of camp...
And two I think her going Rambo and hunting the white marked tribe would be a much more interesting story...

Scalping. Looks like Naylor's going with the Native American practice where they take dead enemies (or near dead) and scalp them. Those are taken as trophies. Probably no one left to absorb so the scalps just serve as a symbol of victory and a warning to rivals.

I have to agree. I'm invested in this one like I never have been for a Naylor comic and I think it's 100% down to him not including dialogue at all while keeping the details open to interpretation.

Honestly I'm hoping he gets a lot of good feedback from this, because I think this is a style that works for him and I'd like to see more like this from him in the future.

Agreed, but I'd guess that its underrepresentation is tied directly to artists' lack of confidence. I'd also guess that if a big part of being a fur is to escape from human norms, then bringing humans into the art is counter-productive.

Yes because a lot of them nowadays tend to be very samey one way or another and in a couple cases brought down his characters with it. Remember Flounce and Persia? Or Aron? It's always either cuck/cheating stuff, piss, philosophical bullshit that ends up making them a mouth piece for Naylor instead of being their own individual characters, or just all of the above. It's became that one-note.

So yes, his writing is that bad. You know it's bad when a comic of his that's recent that happens to have no dialogue ends up being 1000 times better than the majority of his newer comics WITH dialogue.
