more likely because the anime recieved a luke warm response once the appeal of it being new and by studio triger subsided. The general consensus from what I've personally seen is that it wasn't long enough to push the kind of story they were going for originally and having it change up to be "oh, beastmen are actually literally very problematic to everyone including themselves" while it's at the climax of its events just came off as weird and undermined the entire setup they had put down at the start. The design is nice and the setup was solid but the delivery was lack luster and it left open a lot of plot holes and didn't expand enough on what needed to be put in the spotlight and even making the whole city human just pushes the question further of "why is this such an issue?" People are just taking the overall aesthetic and setting and going with the characters they can enjoy at face value since the anime itself is pretty shallow which is likely why theres only a moderate amount of content for nazuna, shirou, and marie while, of course, michiru dominates the rest of it.

It tries to do a lot and doesn't have time to get any of it done. Cute characters designs, bomb soundtrack, and a really bad script.

As furry trash we're automatically inclined to believe that the anthros are do-no-wrong but the actions of the citizens of this zootopia-like town are questionable and violent.

There was a bit in it where one of the anthro characters explains that she was an experimented on in the actual god damned holocaust in an actual god damned nazi camp and I couldn't help but be wonder how the writer thought that was an okay parallel to draw. Left a really bad taste in my mouth.

Won't stop me from jerking to it tho.

straight-up I'm Jewish and thought that showing your anthro characters depicted in the holocaust wasn't the best or classiest choice. They could have picked any event in history to use as a vehicle to depict oppression.

Also, the show wanted to be Kill la Kill so bad, down to the naked final boss fight.
