The actual problem is that the raised stones in the streets for pedestrians to cross were a real feature of the streets of Pompeii, but they existed because that city didn't have a sewer system like Rome. So the streets would be filled with refuse, animal waste and raw human sewage from people just dumping out their chamber pots into the street. With the raised stones pedestrians would be able to cross the street without having to get their sandals or feet covered in filth, yet it still allowed carts and wagons to travel unimpeded, as the stones are broken to give room for their wheels.

So gotta say, this city is surprisingly clean for classical antiquity.

Cute character designs so far though.

That was my first thought, too. I suppose that it could be just after a hard rain washed the streets out, but if it had been long enough for the ground to dry, there would already be filth on the street -- draft animal shit if nothing else.

For whatever reason, I only ever see tidbits of this artists work at any given time, the result has left me unable to give any context to anything they have ever done.

So i'll just ask you guys. Does anything the artist ever posted make a lick of sense? I dug around a little, and it all just kinda seems like tiny interactions, and random statements.

Not just the Romans, everyone did, and their animals too. Street sweeping used to be a very important job.

An interesting historical tidbit is that prior to the early modern period Venice was by far the cleanest city in the world because the canal would wash away all the sewage with the tides. And for that same reason it's now the dirtiest city in Europe, since its extremely challenging and expensive to install a modern plumbing system.

Uh, yeah dude. Roman cities sorta-kinda had indoor plumbing - barely - but by far the most common method of waste disposal was to shit or piss in a pot and then throw the waste outside into the gutter to let the rain wash it away.

Or just into a pit.

Not only in Rome. Up until a couple of centuries ago in Europe. And then again, cars took roads over just a century ago.

At some point frequent bathing was considered devilish in Western Europe because invading Arabs did it. Perfume was invented to mix up the natural smell and was quite strong, I'd imagine. Refuse was just thrown out of the doors or windows, dumped in the rivers (see the Great Stench).

The old times were quite fragrant.

To my knowledge there's nothing wrong with what he said. Don't be so quick to write people off, I may be a furfag but I'm also a historian.

Did you know that during the reign of Diocletian in the late third century AD, Rome's 11 aqueducts fed 1,212 public fountains and 926 public bathhouses in that one one city alone. But in the sixth century, the aqueducts were destroyed from the numerous wars in Italy, making bathing rather difficult. The early Catholic Church, which managed much of the day-to-day functioning of Rome during that chaotic age, had no idea how to repair the aqueducts and consequently declared that bathing should be curtailed anyway as it was a form of sinful hedonism practiced by pagans.

Skipping ahead a bit to the renaissance, in the late 15th century, Queen Isabella of Spain bragged that she had only bathed twice in her whole life. Queen Elizabeth I, too, reportedly bathed once a month, "whether she needed it or no". Her nephew and eventual successor, James VI bore a great aversion to water and reportedly never bathed. He'd also wear the same clothing for months, even sleeping in it. A court lady once complained that she and her friends got "lousy [infested with lice] by sitting in a Councillor's chamber that James frequented". The king didn't even wash his hands before eating. At the dinner table, he "only rubbed his fingers' ends slightly with the wet end of a napkin." His (possible) lover, George Villiers the Duke of Buckingham, wrote in one letter to the king: "So, craving your blessing, I kiss your dirty hands."

I don't know about you anon, but I'm glad that I was born in this age where we don't have to deal with so many...body odors.

Prostitution was quite commonplace in ancient rome. Pompeii has at least four dedicated brothels. We also know from primary sources that they were generally frequented by the commoners, as patricians would have high class prostitutes come to their home instead.

I'm unaware of any archaeological discoveries of Roman dickbread however.

Then you haven't adequately studied Roman history. Prostitutes, whether free or slaves, routinely displayed themselves topless or naked according to Lucius Annaeus Seneca, also known as Seneca the Elder.
As for dick cookies, it would actually be shocking if it didn't exist. The phallus was an extremely common symbol in Roman society, They decorate walls, clothes, jewelry, and were considered both magic and a source of healing by the likes of Gaius Plinius Secundus, more commonly known as Pliny the Elder. While I don't know of any specific findings of phallic food, the traditional connection to the hearth makes it pretty likely.

Dat life of Brian reference.
Out of nowhere they are in rome it doesn't make any sens.

And yess...... rome is transistion between greek antiquity, where slave flesh served for taking away sexual deviance of the couple life to the feudal Monogamic exogamy, incarnated by teh myth of Tristan and Yseult.
But we don't know much about Roman relation to sex, we phallics symbol everywhere, including amulates of virility, but we do'nt know if was items of bad taste or not. Except for the amulets granted to kids...
We do not that sexuality morlaity was something linked to social relationship. We know it was higly patrical, and that penetration was sign of domination, and good slef respecting patrian when tasting the flesh of otehr men, should always be the one active and penetrating.

https://youtu.be/NJEI51FepIk

That guy explain it all.. I mean to understand our relationship to sexuality would you go on uporn??? I mean yess but that would not explain it all.... I mean Roman art tolerate the representation lot of thing that was considered morally wrong....

Wihc is why we think romans were perverted prudes....

And there was a paranoaï around women using their sexual energy to challenge patrical cocneptions of society..... But we do'nt know if those law limitting women's pleasure were applied.... Looking at roman art and evidence that Roman morality was kinda loose on istelf.... We huess that yess not really, most people pretended to obey and abide by thsoe laws...

I am a Roman history buff. And a fan of furry artwork. So I should fucking love this, but God dammit, this comic and this artist in general makes me cringe really fucking hard.

Like, the author obviously has some idea about the Roman culture, props for that. But everything is just so on the nose that it falls flat to the point that it seems like a theme ride rather than an organic story.

Not to mention that horrible worldbuilding. Like, pick a race that is supposed to represent the Latin Romans and go with it, instead of randomly making a bear senator, horse soldier. Also, why are there feral animals as well? This always bugs me in any furry story.

And Jesus Christ the Monthy Python reference is absolutely retarded.

I am not right wing but I do hate leftists, and since my political alignement is kinda anti libertarian libs..... I cannot reveal why It would be ashaming for the movement I support to know that one of their memebr goes on that kind of website.

But i do smell What french Marxist Nammed Michel Clouscard would call neo-fascism of the desir ideology.

The fact that he never mentionend people of colours and that you did, to flag him as racist and bann him kinda show that Clouscard was right.

It was so simple to argue, that anthropomorphisation of animals is the reserve of feralisation of human. It was downright obvious ! Animal in teh comci were cloth that dude is naked.

He is a thief and a fox he would not say to his opponent what his next move will be

>>1891583
the kick could really need something to show the power of the impact,
or the face of Servius could show some deformation from the hit
like this one I posted

And furthermore wouldn't Servius hold his nose more than his eye?
The muscles in the face protect your eye from damaged in most instances,
but the nose is way more sensitive, especially for canines.
A hit to the nose would be extremely painful.
You could add maybe some tears there to emphasize that

Overall I just don't see a lot of convincing emotions in the faces of the characters like fear or pain.
I know it is not easy to show such emotions properly
Not everyone can be Feretta but I think there is a lot of potential for improvements in this scene.

Why would that guy be worried about the girl being barren if they're different species? There's 0 indication in this comic that hybrids are a thing.
I know this is a porn comic but come on man

I'm more questioning why the master says he has instilled in his daughter "good republican virtues", yet when talking to the deer the slave implied that he was a Christian. The Republic was long gone by the time Christianity reached Rome.

I mean, that doesn't imply that few christians couldn't have been there already. History does not happen in discrete events, it's a continuous thing that spreads over millions of different lives. Ever heard the saying "one swallow doesn't make spring"?
Plus, I'm fairly sure there weren't anthropomorphic animals in ancient Rome as well so you can't really assume history wouldn't go unchanged.
Just to make a point: do you really think that in a world where animals can actually talk and think equally a religion that thrives on animal sacrifices and animism wouldn't be abandoned way more quickly than in a world where one single species is allowed to develop without any real counterpart to teach the values of humility and relativism?
