I'm guessing her pride and social awkwardness come from a teenage trauma that was caused either by her parents, or glossed over by them. That would make her hate them either way. Then they'd have been either the cause of her pain, or rugsweepers that tried to pretend it never happened. And if that's the case then no wonder she's messed up.

This entire situation feels wrong, and like the writer is trying to put a cute face on some runaway who possibly committed murder trying to learn to be a prostitute. Like fuckin people as a job so you can survive is somehow a wonderful way to live instead of literally a last resort sort of thing.

You can feel it's all just a hollow shell being put in place to try to explain the sex that's probably gonna happen later. This would have been better if they had just gone one route or the other; either just have her meet some guys and FOCUS on the sex, or develop the character in this issue, THEN move on to the sex.

So far, trying to blend them is leaving me feeling like all the rest is just one of those B grade porno 'storylines'; maybe kinda interesting, but generally just kinda in the way of the sex that you know is coming and is the reason you're watching it in the first place.

So, after checking the artist's FA to see more, I'm not gonna lie, I'm deeply interested in this story.

While I don't know what the direction is yet, I genuinely hope it doesn't lead to her getting knocked up. Girl seems to be dealing with a lot, and it feels wrong to just slap sex in there as an answer to her prayers.

Also, in >>1977358 I kinda thought she was having thoughts of suicide, which makes the whole comic feel way darker. Which, can confirm, is the point of the comic (that it's dark) on the Furlana's FA. While I'm not a fan of dark topics in general, I am interested in story driven works, and this 100% has my attention. Glad I took time to read it here first.

You only need to look back at how she used to draw her fursona about 3 years ago. She had a much more appealing face and a clearly defined muzzle. Compare her to now where she looks like she just got hit in the face with a frying pan.

Sure Slav guy paid fore at least one drink, but they sit directly at the bar, so the bartender will give it to her, not a lot of room for him to drug her in plain sight.

If you watch closely she seems to only drink whiskey on the rocks so far and at the point she was going over to the bar she bought her 3rd drink, chucked it down and Slav gave her one more.
At the end there are 2 empty glasses on both sides, so she had at least 4 drinks by now, maybe more depending on how long they sit there.
IRL, the bartender would have removed the empty glassware, but I think the artist let it there, so we get an indication of how long they sit there.

The details in this comic are well-made.

I once heard a script writer say that when writing cartoons, they needed to have a mental image of where the commercial breaks are in the script. And to do that they had to understand more than just the script, but the art and characters of the cartoon as well. Even if only doodles on a board. That means the writers have a good mental image of the art, even if they can't draw it.

For one to draw so well as this comic, they have extreme talent. But they aren't learning to apply the story aspect. As an artist and writer myself I studied other comics and books to get better at both. It can be done.

My trick to it is to mentally put myself in the shoes of the characters I'm writing or drawing. To try and feel some of their emotions in the moment. Instead of imagining it as a comic, I imagine it as just people. And what I'd say or do as that person with their personality and quirks. It's very immersive.

If anyone here looks up Robert Crumb, he's a very successful 20th century artist who got his big break in porn. But he went on to draw a lot more. Including scenes for biblical stuff. But his most infamous creation was Fritz the Cat. He was a messed up, sex addicted, drug addicted, narcissistic feline who could never help pretty much destroying his own life.

A friend of mine smashed a window and got hostile against me ...he had a lot of things in his life and family going wrong and suppressed all of that emotions and anger until it all burst out in such a kind of breakdown.

We have some context from a previous comic. Rey isn't doing well in school, but she's a gifted artist. Mom didn't like the idea because she wants better for her daughter. Her father is pissed because he's paying for private school and she has no interest in furthering her education, she wants to do art. Rey feels inadequate for being good at art but nothing else. The comic doesn't explain her reason for being an inconsiderate potty-mouthed bitch with a fear of men though. So, you can speculate on what caused that.

So, more or less, she threw a tizzyfit, ran away from home with her degenerate, exploitative friend and we have this comic here. I like Furlana's art and I think Rey is attractive but holy shit this writing is unbelievably bad. The only thing that can make this worse at this point is if she finds an 11/10 ultrawealthy, hung chad who totally supports her life choices and treats her like a queen that gets to live the dream of doing art all day, because why grow as a person when you can just have a one-in-a-billion lucky break.
