Sonic can easily dodge lasers, so why'd he stand there and get hit?

The comic claims its 'body morphing technology', yet apparently it has hypnotic and mind altering effects as well? How's THAT work other than 'because it does'?

Why does Sonic also assume this random guy, who he has to remember changed him (unless that ALSO got altered), is now his 'boss'? Or does he now see EVERY male as his boss? That's a lot of effects from a single short zap.
