(Just my favorite Cobalt image. Not new art or anything)

Cobalt got in trouble with the Simba Dakimaru and looking at his social medias I think it got to him a lot. From the trouble with the owner to the trouble with Tartii... If I were to guess, he just got sick of the furry community and abandoned ship. Can't completely blame him. It was a bad situation.

I was about to make a section to say he's still doing fine and might come back to make art... but I don't think so. You see, he switched to selling on Adore-a-pup after all the inkedfur drama. On there, a customer asked if Cobalt was alright and the owner said he was in contact, and that Cobalt was doing his own thing, but he was okay. But now, the listing for the Simba Daki has been removed so I can't find the review anymore. The daki was taken down sometime in the last month, because I checked it some time a month ago. You'll have to take my word on it.

If the Simba Daki was removed, I can only guess it was Cobalt requesting for it to be taken down. If Cobalt requested this to be taken down, he may request his other pieces to be taken down, so save what you want to save. I may get into contact with Rana(adore-a-cub owner) and ask why the daki was taken down.

Be hopeful that he comes back. Plenty of people would be very happy about it. (But I guess some of y'all think he will definitely return some time soon? I don't understand why he would, but tell me if you have reasons to think that)

Last time I spoke to him, a little less than one year ago, he said he was saving money and focusing on school. Also that he only feels comfortable returning if he can pay back everyone he owes a commission with interest and (perhaps) complete the ones that are already started.

I have not been able to speak to him since.

I'm guessing he's doing the No Man's Sky approach of "be silent until you can make sure you do everyone right" sorta approach.

Or things could've changed. He's an unstable guy.

We used to talk on a messenger.
He stopped replying to my messages nearly a year back without explanation.

A mutual friend of mine said they still talked with them and they're alright enough. When they asked why they ignore me now he refused to acknowledge the question.

When something stresses him it like, overloads his brain and he can't face it anymore. People, sites, etc.

The reason his Patreon stayed collecting was because he was afraid of logging back in until I pushed him to shut it down because by still collecting money he was making it worse.

I told him I'd keep quiet about stuff but if he's just gonna ignore me then fuck it.

I really liked supporting him even if he wasn't consistently producing. I was eager to join his patreon just to help show my appreciation for the cool work he did, rather than wanting anything specific.

It seems like he got in over his head, and I like your sentiment that he just needs to learn his own limits a bit better and avoid doing stuff that's gonna depress himself and anger those around him. I hope he has good friends he can confide in and work through some of this stuff.

Yeah, I don't know if he's coming back. TLDR of the screenshot is that I messaged the person who was hosting the Simba Daki, and Cobalt effectively asked the host to take down the Daki. I don't see a reason that someone would get rid of passive income unless if they didn't like that they were gaining income that way. It just doesn't really make sense to me.

His stuff was definitely the most top tier I've seen in a long time. Not only did he successfully emulate the style of the characters he was drawing, he created a kind of enhanced version of it.

They're clearly in the style of Brother Bear, but look better than any of the scenes from the actual movie. He must have gotten some serious RL issues to have been gone this long. I just hope he's doing OK.

We sort of have a spiritual successor to Cobalt, at least in that "Drawing on-model but even better" aspect. Leto does some damn good Disney-like characters. And not just foxes.

I think Leto used to do Cubs, but he's moved further and further away from that as he's gotten more popular. He still does petite furs, but their age feels more ambiguous.
