Has anyone heard of artists getting harassed, doxxed, or attacked for drawing cub?

Curious about this since a lot of artists seem to turn tail and flee at the first sign of canceling. Are they just cowards?

It's not just cowardice, people are having their lives ruined over this shit. I know someone who had to move multiple times due to these assholes.

honestly it happens to regular furry artists too. just a lot more to artists who do cub art. people on the internet are arses. so never give people a 'in'. do whatever you can to make sure no personal info leaks out.

I'm not gonna name names in case someone's looking for a target, but I hear that someone new has dropped from cub every couple of weeks or so. It's honestly pretty scary.

You have to realize that this happens all the time. I have heard countless stories of artists getting outed for cub, then disappearing or losing their jobs or homes shortly after. It's scary.

It's just another witch hunt by the oh-so inclusive and tolerant furry community.
What a complete and utter joke.
I've never seen such a discriminatory and bigoted group that literally hides behind acceptance and tolerance as they steamroll anyone who is different or doesn't conform.

There's artists on the daily if not weekly leaving the fandom, getting doxxed or stalked and then just outright falling off the face of the earth.

Cancel Culture is very real and it benefits nobody.

The tragedy to it all is that it didn't used to be this way. That 'oh-so inclusive and tolerant' reputation comes from a time when the fandom, by and large, was inclusive and tolerant -- and not just of kinks. The fandom supported a broad range of political ideologies, sexual orientations, and even levels of social skill. The fandom moving to algorithm-driven social media, the decline of anonymity and privacy online, and the upbringing of a new generation of furries in the toxic environment of the modern internet changed that.

When I was young and new to the fandom, cub was, frankly, an integrated and well-accepted kink community. We had a presence on almost every major furry platform -- even sites like FA and the then-popular Fchan. Cub was like vore or micro or any number of other fetishes.

There were definitely judgemental people, and there were small groups that were hostile toward cub in particular, but most harassment was targeted towards furries in general, and while furry drama has always been stupid, it was a lot lower stakes back then -- people weren't having their careers ruined over posting wrongthink on the internet.

It's possible to go back and look at things like old furry forums or ancient FA journals and see just how much things have changed. Somewhere on the Google groups Usenet archives there's an old thread on a furry newsgroup talking about the venerable Cub Central (rip) back when it first went online, and while there is controversy it centers entirely around how the site might affect the public image of furry -- there isn't a single post complaining that the content was somehow unacceptable or immoral.

It's almost surreal to see what's become of the fandom I loved. It feels like there's so little left, and less by the day. Artists leaving, sites dying or shutting out cub, a new witch hunt for the evil fetish du jour on Twitter. It breaks my heart.

For a long time, furry was my rock. It was the place I could always go at the end of the day and find a warm welcome, fast friends, and acceptance of all of me -- including my wierd kinks. The pain of losing that has been immense, and I struggle with it every day. With all the other bad shit going on in the world, the environment collapsing, global politics sliding into authoritarian-vs-authoritarisn slap fights, and the challenges of my own personal life, now is the time when I need what the fandom was more than ever, yet I'm watching what is left being stripped away, powerless to stop or even slow the inevitable collapse.

I feel empty.

All of this rings true painfully. A couple months ago I had a friend whose cub art from almost ten years ago was leaked. Someone shared their phone number after the leak and they got bombarded with threats and calls. He still doesn't know how his number got out, and people will go to great lengths to doxx. The result was him getting fired from his job and his sickly grandma thinking he owed the mob money.

I do not blame anyone for wanting to keep that stuff secret.
