I'm imagining he plays with fire because he's trying to triangulate so strongly between his perception of differently minded supporters, like yeah I guess he was cancelled but you also have a lot of people who are either like literal goldfish or otherwise twist themselves into an incredible level of denial about things. He's also a big/generic enough name artist at this point that he probably has a notable number of people who have been subscribed for a long time but don't necessarily realise/notice. Also worthy of consideration might be the idea that a lot of his Patreon subscribers would like him to be open about cub but they're still nonetheless not quite committed enough to it that they'd want it to be associated with their payment details, though I wouldn't be sure what the actual prevalence of that would be. This is all to say that I feel a large portion of his Patreon subscribers likely wouldn't transfer over to SubscribeStar if he started being open about cub and his Patreon got shut down (because they moderate for off-site behaviour), even though he'd already gotten cancelled along those lines previously. Finally I'm pretty sure I've mentioned it elsewhere on here but I've heard SubscribeStar takes a higher commission than Patreon, but I feel like that would be the least significant component because with the highly (some might say over) comfortable amount he's making already, if he was somehow able to bring all of his supporters over without issue then the freedom to be open about cub would be well, well worth any reasonably conceivable difference in commission between the two sites.
