I’ll give you a few tips to help you recover it. I’ve kind of “specialized” in digging up deleted content, so it tends to get easier once you know a few tricks.
Normally, having the artist’s name would help a lot — that’s usually the main way to recover things. But since you don’t have it, we’ll have to go the “annoying route.” Two simple thought paths to start with, based on your specific case:
“I had it favorited on e621”: Go to your favorites list and search with this code: status:deleted
“Crap, I didn’t favorite it”: Well, this one’s trickier — but still doable with a bit of effort. Try searching on e621 using 3 to 5 specific tags you remember from the image, then add status:deleted at the end again.
Step 2 – Two more paths to try (this works like 90% of the time):
It was linked: In case you didn’t know, every image on e621 has a section at the bottom (after the tags) that might include an external source link. Scroll down and see if there’s a backup link — if so, bingo!
“Ugh, that didn’t work either!” In that case, the best option is to find the artist’s name (if possible) and look them up manually on Rule34, e-hentai, or other image recovery platforms. It’s a bit of a pain, but usually gets the job done.
And if none of that works — or you’re just feeling lazy — cross your arms, wait around, and maybe someone will send it to you by sheer luck.
