I really don't consider this dragon feral, he's fully sentient after all, among other things.

Usually when I hear or think of feral, it's in reference to a literal animal.

As in a pet dog, etc, etc.
Can't talk, does not have higher cognitive abilities, or self awareness

Usually that is the defining difference between a feral and a furry character.

all ferals are non-anthro, but not all non-anthro are ferals if that makes any sense.

At least, that's how I've understood it all these years.

Also the way the dragon moves and his posture seems he's more of a halfthro character. He's not fully anthro, but somewhere in between.

Sentient or Sentience is the correct word, since it means the dragon is capable of higher thought and is self aware.
That is where the term "Sentient beings" and why we use such a term.

Sapience is defined as "having or showing great wisdom or sound judgment. " and is a common synonym for wisdom.

""Sapience," noun of sapient, is the ability to think, and to reason. It may not seem like much a difference, but the ability to reason is tied more closely to sapience than to sentience. Most animals are sentient, (yes, you can correctly say your dog is sentient!) but only humans are sapient."

It's amazing what 2 seconds of GOOGLING can provide.

Sentient literally only means capable of sensing, which most animals can do. However, the meaning was (incorrectly) broadened in general usage primarily by science fiction authors to mean capable of self-awareness until this meaning finally became grudgingly accepted even among academia.

So altogether, one is a pig-headed classicist with his head up his ass and the other is a shameless revisionist with no sense of propriety. You both suck, and should probably die.

I literally looked up "Define Sapience" before I wrote my definitions of Sapience and Sentience. I enjoy learning new things, and wanted to double check before I replied/commented.

I honestly could not find the definition, or anything similar to what the other user,>>1323974 , was discussing.

So, yea, I learned something new, but I am also looking for any information to back up what >>1323974 said.

I cannot find the definition you've given.

Mine came from
Merriam-Webster (Their new formatting sucks)
Definition of sapience
:wisdom, sagacity

Dictionary
Sapience is the quality of being wise, or wisdom.
ability to apply knowledge or experience or understanding or common sense and insight

Vocabulary
having or showing great wisdom or sound judgment.
a
(All .com sites, afraid giving direct links might get me banned/reprimanded by the mods)

Wikipedia says
Noun
sapience (usually uncountable, plural sapiences)
The property of being sapient, the property of possessing or being able to possess wisdom.

It's actually bugging me that I cannot find the other user's definition of sapience. In all honesty, I've almost never heard the word in modern vernacular, so I wanted to double check everything.

As >>1324159 state, Sentience is just the more commonly used word now a days, and seems to have taken over the roll of both words.

What are you talking about?
>>1323974
is totally right, sapience is the ability to think and reflect, sentience is the ability to feel.
You googled correctly and that is indeed the definition of sapience, and it also fits what he said, and if you check sentience you would find as a result "The ability to feel", to put into perspective; a lobster isn't sentient, a dog is sentient but not sapient, and a human is both sentient and sapient.

Now if anyone doesn't make sense here it's
>>1320230
who compares sentience and sapience in the subject of ferality, probably misunderstanding sapience for bipedalism.
Sentience =/= Bipedalism would've made sense in context and is probably what they meant.

KI like how people are arguing over sentience and sapience, and no one is discussing how that wolf female took a dick the size of her torso to the hilt, and gave in to a dragon that kidnapped her in a heartbeat without complaint. xD

I agree with your definition of sentience and sapience, I disagree with you using it in this context since both are clearly sapient, and I agree on your lack of self-correctness.
Because like you said, sapience is the ability to reflect on your thoughts, both characters are clearly doing it, but you said "Sapience =/ Sentience", to put it in your words, "so, which one is it? Can't be both!".

Yes, and it doesn't answer my question.
1. It was said that sentience doesn't equate sapience.
2. Both are clearly sapient.
3. The definition of both sapient and sentient has been given by the same person who said one doesn't equate the other.

Question, why has this been put on the table? If both a clearly sapient what does it have to do with anything, and why has this been said responding to a person questioning ferality.
Ferality has nothing to do with sapience nor sentient, and at this point I start to think the person who affirms those things is just trying to chase their own tail to create unecessary arguments instead of just admitting they confused Sapience with Ferality.
