Even if he wanted to, he wouldn't be able to use patreon for the comic. Even if it was a fake DMCA going around by 1 dude, patreon themselves don't want to take the chances because they will be hit with a burn if it happened to be real. Patreon is so strict about it that they pay people to stalk artists who they have temped banned by either rule breaking or dmca's. If they spot that the artist is associating patreon with dmcaable material or banned work (can literally just be a link to their page saying it's a tip jar), they'll nag the artist and then eventually ban them on patreon if nothing is done.

I'd actually argue to say it's more consistent than when artists don't draw genitalia then a sexual scene occurs and now it magically appears. You can see in pages 6 and 9, if the angle presents itself there is genitalia. Even in page 11 when they are looking at the avalanche, there is some, albeit subtle, vulva and backsacks.

It's not what we're used to in these comics for sure but it makes sense; with unclothed feral animals (or any animals in general) genitalia would be visible at certain angles regardless of the content of the scene.
