>I do get that it's been like a decade now
First issue of "Frisky Ferals" (At least according to e621) is from 2011 (featuring Kindle, Thystle and others). "Family Matters" is from 2012
We are close to a decade and a half...
>The mere fact that that style has obviously gone away explains why it feels like a reboot has happened at some point even if that's not literally true.
The cover for Family Matters had an egg, vera and Kindle in them, including the very name of the comic implying stuff. Between page 3 and 4, 9 months passed, another 6 months till page 5, 4 months for page 6, 3 for 7, 1 for 8, 4 for 9, 4 for 10 (which btw, page 10 has no page number), page 11 the same month, in fact the same week.
And THEN, after 4 years of character design, 3 of the comic, just THEN they finished planing that comic story in 2015. All the first 11 pages are inconsistent between themselves, and obviously the rest of the comic, since, nothing was planned until this point, nor the sisters, nor vera, nothing.
So yeah, not really a reboot, but, 5 years of random stuff that then got given a forced sense (Not even the cover of the original comic has any sense or explanation, it got retconned). Knowing that all of this is getting back to that, is at least curious. I mean, NHNF being supposedly its own story within its own universe but then PORTALS!!!... what? is this now the Feralverse?
Oh, and for that matter, if we follow the timeline of those events, with all the comics that came after, Kindle banging willingly his sisters is finally happening, in universe time, just a month after... "Something Different" picks up from the very same day of the events of Family Matters, the entire comics happens the very same day, written almost a decade after. The month that passes, happens in this comic.
