I don't think he's gone crazy. More like he's tired of having to protect the delicate sensibilities of people who don't even matter and annoyed with people demanding he explain himself; the handful of fans who would be morally outraged by ass, boobs, and cock, who would argue "if once you start down that dark path, forever will it dominate your destiny."

Rick doesn't owe anyone anything, least of all an explanation for the things he decides to draw/write. He's not obsessed with sex; in fact he seems to have a healthier mindset about it than most. Good on him for being happy with what he wants to actually do.

Well keep in mind that Rick has always had this strange attitude about drawing porn, almost like a gay man in the closet or in outright denial, and has tried to claim it was all about keeping the comics "G-rated" while assuring everyone that he never had any issues drawing porn (while still refusing to ever draw any) and accused everyone *else* of being "prudes."

So, whatever has finally happened to have him get over his hangups in the last few years, it seems that he has finally decided that he's okay with drawing explicit things now. So yay!

Ricks drawn plenty of porn. I even have some prints on my wall signed by him.

He was trepidatious about it for a long time, possibly because he was worried about how people would react when he did, but he's certainly relaxed about it more. Especially the nudity, which he's made jokes about the cartoon lack of visible genitals since very, VERY early on in the Housepets! comic.

Frankly, it's a welcome change that he's willing to at least include the nudity outside the context of the comic because for those characters; it's literally a casual every day thing, not sexual.

Something about having a very religious upbringing that he "rebelling at" trough his writing (and while housepets have been relatively clean from this influence, just check out any random page from AH-club and you will see what i mean).

His "recent" (he has actually been doing it for the last decade or so, he has just started to include housepets relatively recently) foray into explicit art seems to have been a step in that.

He also recently started going on these 50+ page twitter rants about how he doesn't care what the world thinks about him and stuff like that. Though i think most of his problems are exclusive to his own head.
