I rarely, if ever, read "gay stories" or gay anything. I've never seen a reason to pursue works that are specifically gay themed or oriented. But reading this comic, this issue in this thread, I'll decided I'll definitely read the entirety of this comic. It's a thing from another time period close to ours, yet slightly different. The openness of the characters fill me with envy, even if the lack of realism imparts a small amount of cringe that comes from an unsuccessful suspension of disbelief. The mention of AIDS clearly points it out as a work from its time period, where that was definitely still something on peoples' minds. Thanks for the upload.
