http://www.cavesandcritters.com is where all the latest pages (currently up to 504 of 'em) live! My only request is that the pages on THAT site not be re-posted elsewhere; however, once they hit my backup account on FurAffinity ( http://www.furaffinity.net/user/cavesandcritters ) then it's fair game as long as I'm credited for them.

I will, however, keep checking back in here from time to time to answer any questions and field any critique! I'm not a dick; I know I've got a long way to go before I can call myself a genuinely good artist, and I appreciate any and all criticisms given, especially if they're constructive.

I would have never stumbled across the comic if not via u18.

I am at chapter V right now and I _love_ it.

I am a little short on treasures, gold coins and jewels right now but once that changes for the better I will definitely donate a little something for your work. Or buy some prints - which would be the favored way^^

The problem is, people don't tag what they post. Yeah this is still an issue and its still a major issue with e621 particular because "people still dont tag their shit". This is no exception with this website and even I still have to tag people's posts as "Macro". It just gets annoying.

So because this comic has 2 chapters where straight and herm sex happens, just whoever uploads the pictures; whatever picture that shows "breasts"; spare the mods and us the drama from queers that can't handle nipples and just click the "spoilers" box. If you can tag your post, cool, if not; not a big deal.

I know the artist is binge reading this so I use the opportunity to ask something about the comic domain.

I had some serious issues with my iPad reading it. The pages were bigger than the screen which is good but whenever I touched anything to scroll just another page loaded. Usually the one before but sometimes also 10 pages. After all the site was unusable and I switched to the PC after trying for a while.
I was nowhere near the navigation signs though.

I checked on Safari and Mercury browser.

Did someone else encounter this problem or is it just my damn and somewhat bugged iPad again?

So it turns out that the Caves and Critters homepage is blocked by several UK ISPs thanks to these ridiculous content restriction laws - namely BT, TalkTalk, Sky and Virgin (incl the smaller ones that use their infrastructure.)

There's sadly nothing I can do about this.

Because CnC is 18+ it's not something I can overturn. If you're in the UK and can't access the site, you need to look at your own internet filters and/or call your ISP to get it unblocked.

That said, if you use a VPN to route through somewhere less moronic like, say, Germany, you'll be able to access it just like normal!

So yeah. Sorry, but, there's nothing I can do to change it, that I'm aware of.

I don't know about anyone else, but I stopped caring for this comic a while ago. While sex was never the main focus, chapters 3-6 had a single sex scene, and it was straight. There's also the fact this comic is a giant embarrassing weebfest (but like, the medieval version of a weeb). Granted, CnC is a LONG way from literary gold - it started out with no real goal beyond 'make this old comic idea of mine into furry adventurers who have casual sex' and then got, like, plot and shit that I wanted to follow, so now I'm mostly just trying to tie my own mess together lol. But I don't -think- I have any 'edgy goth' characters - and certainly none of them resemble anything I'd normally play in a TTRPG.

Closest thing I can think of is the demon-spirit-thing possessing Theran - which is a holdover from earlier versions of the comic before it turned all Furry - and I'm actively trying to write that out with the current story arc, so other than that I'm not sure what it could be and am genuinely curious.

Oh don't worry, I've had hard and fast rules regarding cameos for a long time. I usually only offer the choice via 'giveaway' journals on my FA when I have an upcoming need for a character to fill a specific non-recurring role, or a crowd of people to fill some background shots. The rules on said cameos are as follows, and will never change;

1) All cameos are a 'hey look it's me!' opportunity and nothing else. This is most apparent in Foreground (speaking part) cameos. The only thing that changes is their appearance, based on the design of the character that won that role in the giveaway. The Necromancer in Stoneport who gave Arc his flesh back, for example, would have acted the exact same way whether or not it was Koun's visual appearance that he had. Same goes for the friendly Druid who mended Theran's chest wound in the early chapters - whether it was Suel or someone else's looks, the character themselves would have had the same dialogue, interactions and personality.

2) Cameo characters will never interact sexually with any of the main cast within the comic's canon. 3) You can't have the same character cameo multiple times, and people who've never won slots before will take priority over those who do.

4) If anybody really, really wants to purchase their way into a cameo appearance, it will automatically be Background only. You could offer me enough money to clear all my debts past, present and future, and it would still only be a background appearance.

Nope! The user who was uploading pages here stopped after the site shit itself a few years back because the idea of uploading it all again understandably was too much for him, but the comic still regularly updates on FA (/user/cavesandcritters) and it's own homepage (www.cavesandcritters.com) at least once a week - and a lot more than that lately as my new tablet is a LOT of fun to use. :D

That said if anyone wants to start uploading pages here to U18 again, the last user stopped at the end of Chapter 6 - and you can readily pick up where that left off here https://cavesandcritters.com/cnc_storylines/ch7/ :) I'd do it myself, but my plate is rather full with the comic + commission work. Aw hell, thanks. I do try. I never expect everyone to like it - hell, I fully expect some outright hate it and wish I'd stop. But I can never hope to grow as an artist, author or otherwise if I can't accept that fact - and I always welcome constructive criticism.

I know I COULD do better on the art quality if I really pushed myself, but then I'd be risking turning it from a Fun Thing into a Chore, and when Fun Things become Chores they stop being Fun and inevitably die out. That's part of why I ditched the set update schedule and moved to 'when I get to it' - if I have a deadline looming over me I inevitably think 'uggghhh fuck I haven't even started tuesday's page yet and it's already sunday night and fuuuuuuck' and end up skipping updates, which only makes me feel worse, and so on. :F

As it is, I think I've found a style that's aesthetically pleasing enough while also being fun for me to work on and keep the updates semi-regular. :D

Eh, don't beat yourself up over it. Not perfect, sure, but it's still a solid comic. I do admit that I kind of just stop reading and skip plotlines that don't interest me, but it's definitely a good comic to read, speaking as a D&D nerd.

The only personal gripe I have is the presence of animal dicks, I very much prefer human dicks on furries, but ignore that, that's just my preference.

Same, tbh, vis-a-vis the dicks. :P Most of my newer characters have human or human-like dicks, and those that don't generally only have some vestigial remnants of the animal-shaped genitals - seeing as most of those differences are to accomodate for feral/quadrapedal sex, and anthros are bipedal and thus wouldn't need many of the same differences anymore. Damn right there's some vague semblance of science in this furry fantasy fuckfest.

And don't feel bad about skipping plotlines lol - the sequel to CnC, when it eventually ends, will be much coherent overall and stick to only one or two major groups of protagonists instead of the clusterfuck I've got going on here lol.

It's in part because of the narrator box on page 388 (https://cavesandcritters.com/cnc_webcomic/388/), where I explained that the 'conversation' between them is more about context and body language and the like and Eighteen isn't actually 'speaking' while in that form - Lida's just able to understand the way animals communicate with one another very, very clearly. The dialogue from him is purely for the reader's sake.

I edited 388 slightly for the print edition, but still removed the subsequent porn pages, as there's no way to clearly point out prior to the porn that Eighteen is, in fact, an entirely sentient being trapped in a quadrupedal form without ruining the later reveal of that same fact - not without going back and adding in extra pages, which would also require me intentionally reverting back to how I used to draw back then to make it not look horribly out of place lol.

That said, I've got no issue with people sharing those pages around - they're just not part of the official canon any more.
