Boy, this story is turning into a comedy, real quick.
'Jonathan only harassed you because he was afraid of losing you.'
Not only does that make NO SENSE, but it also highlights how shitty of a parent this lady was. Like, you couldn't figure out how to speak to your sons before this point; you knew what the problem was, it was very clear how uncomfortable Jonathan was with everything, you showed great favor for one son over the other while allowing the other to become a useless drunk, and now you want to say that everything was done out of fear of loss?
Really?
Also, at what point in this narrative have these two brothers needed each other? Tobias literally has a perfect life: a submissive husband who he fucks every chance he wants, a thriving business, a glorious home, a son who 'has special powers', and he does anything and everything he wants without consequence. Meanwhile, his brother has...none of that. So what is he offering Tobias again? What could he offer Tobias? And would Tobias even take it? I think we've forgotten who Tobias is, because this is not a man who needs, he takes. That's part of his entire character.
Furthermore, what do you think they even have to talk about from this point on; no one in the family likes Jonathan, I think that's crystal clear, and he doesn't seem to have a reason to like them, from the fact that the last time we saw him, before the retconned flashback, this woman slapped him and he was utterly humiliated in front of his entire biological family.
Not to mention, until very recently Jonathan was a bog standard villain. Literally, he existed to antagonize Tobias until barely a chapter ago, and so far, I don't think these two have had a civil conversation with one another going forward that wasn't leading up to a fight. So...where is all of this sudden concern for Jonathan coming from? And why is it here in this story? And why is another woman being shoved out of this story to try to redeem Jonathan? It's coming off as VERY creepy.
