Maybe he's referring to the characters being traced that are resemble to the other characters from the "Maxx and Steven" comic. If that's what he meant.

Sorry for not making it clear, I DID NOT mean to imply that he traced as in copied other peoples work or characters. Thats entirely my fault and I appologize. What I mean is that hes using 3D models and tracing over them. Its very clear from the anatomy and positioning to me cause I've seen people use it before. Hes probably using it to save time and effort, but its just super obvious to me.

as long he doesn't trace other people's work i don't see any harm from this. don't underestimate modeling too btw. i have never done a legit one in blender and stuff, but i too sometimes use modeling program to get references in my drawings (magic poser, design doll), it's not easy to tweak the limbs to a certain pose you want and it took a lot of time too.

If you want to draw realistic humanoid anatomy, that's how you're supposed to do that. 3D models to position the way you need and use that for base is literally how it needs be done. You don't magically produce accurate anatomy without doing that.

while not the only way to learn accurate anatomy, it's super common in the industry. clip studio has built in functionality to pose 3d models, and while i use a physical pose doll, i definitely see why artists use it to supplement--foreshortened bodies are difficult!
