Here's a simple description of Legoshi's age - NOT A CUB! Does the cover freaken look like a child is on it, does it? Obviously not.

Legoshi's age only exists in people's minds, the artist didn't give him one, which means it's 100% their own problem if they choose to see this comic as problematic, not the site's.

And why does anyone care why this comic keeps getting deleted? It's not like it was ever gone, it more like rebooted, which no doubt will happen again because of all this stupid, stupid whining comments about a cartoon animal's meaningless age. Ridiculous.

Not sure how mods rate thing hero on other sites. Take a... call it fictional case on a webpage where people has affinity for furries. What if a well known artist who has lots of followers has a tendency to make underage characters involved in sex with adult characters. No matter if anyone reports him, or if the character is obviously underage because of his height, underdeveloped secondary sexual characteristics and the fact that he was used as a sex slave before by his sensei and also by the sensei superior... if the artist says he is over 18 it is alright for the page moderators...

The wolf and panda look WAY too mature to be considered anything close to actual children, and the art style also makes them look like the same age even thought their canonical age difference is about 20 years.

A standard HD monitor has only 1080 lines, so it's not actually any better. It's just wider. Computer displays actually went down in terms of pixels per inch and simply got bigger when LCDs came around.

The point is that you can't display some fuckhuge 8k image and get any better results. You only burden up and slow down the server and the bandwidth by loading up multi-megabyte files that don't actually render any better on most people's monitors.

And the only way you're having a 2K/4K monitor is by having a cheap-ass "gaming" monitor with a TN or VA type panel, which is shit for color rendering. Proper high resolution monitors are easily $1000 and up, which makes no sense to buy for most people.

For zooming, perhaps. Sill doesn't need to be ultra high resolution.

For the basic theory of it, there's no need for computer monitors to be greater than about 100 PPI because your vision can't match - or you'd have to sit uncomfortably close. The average person can make out about one second of a degree differences, which makes the smallest pixel detail you can tell apart L*tan(1/60) in size, where L is the distance to your monitor. If you keep your monitor 36" away then the pixel size becomes 10 thousandths of an inch, or 100 pixels per inch. Sitting too close to the monitor makes the colors distort because of the steeper viewing angle towards the edges of your monitor. This makes the optimum resolution for a regular size computer monitor pretty close to standard HD. For larger monitors 1440p (2K) can be warranted, whereas 4K/8K doesn't really bring anything to the game unless you really like to crane your neck into it.

Some 2084x3107 picture is really overkill for online publishing. It will weigh about 3-4 MB where a file limited to 1440 lines for the sake of the argument would be around 1 MB or less with JPEG. Four times the data, multiplied by the number of people downloading it means it costs more to keep up the servers, databases, etc. and the sites and forums you use slow down needlessly - especially over mobile.

You gonna get blur anyways because of the resampling algorithm. When the pixel boundaries don't align perfectly, guess what happens? Moiré patterns, and in order to make the picture uniform so you don't get banding effects or other weird artifacts where the pixels shift in and out of alignment, the whole thing is blurred slightly by the algorithm. The effect manifests every time source image isn't exactly 2x or 4x or 8x the target resolution. There you have to account for the fact that your computer UI takes up a variable amount of the pixels, so you can't plan to do 2x1080p or 2x1440p or whatever - because it's going to be viewed in a browser with Y number of pixels actually visible - which is why you have to lowball the number and guess that okay, maybe most of my viewers have 1080p monitors, and they lose about a hundred pixels to other shit, so maybe 900 pixels is what renders properly for them.

If you really care about sharpness and crispness, it's better to have a picture that can be viewed at native resolution on your screen, even if it doesn't quite fill it, than one which is larger but turns out soft when you have to squeeze it in anyways. Otherwise you have to turn the picture ridiculously large to reduce the effect of beat patterns and the resulting need to blur it below the screen resolution, without really gaining anything in the process.

These arguments remind me of the translation of “The private class in health care” by Luwei. The original age of both characters is 35 and 14. But because of the whinning as*hat so the translator have to put a fake character introduction page that change the age of character from 14 to 18. Or the doujin will move to Cub secssion.

One difference is that Luwei's story involves a HS teacher and a student and there are US states where even if the student is 18 the HS teacher can still be prosecuted. Its not like the doujins where its two teens with each other.

There's a problem in the anime community where they will defend rule34 of characters that look 5 years old because in the canon they are 1,000 year old immortal fairies.

You are all having a productive conversation but it's not as complicated as you're all making it. When it comes to fanfiction and specifically adult-fanfiction, all you need to ask yourself is "Is this character meant to be representative of an adult". If the answer is yes then you are fine. Legosi is very clearly aged up in this comic.
