I'm the guy who said that the doc being toxic is the point of the character.
In short it's not a matter of tastes, it's a matter of treating someone the way they define as respectable.
The Doc(I think his name is Viktor) has treated Eli from the very first few pages as a play toy. He has constantly touched his dick, ass, or balls without consent, to the point he only stopped under threat of violence.
Viktor controls Eli's livelihood, food, and the entire home. It's stated multiple times how isolated the house is from the nearest town. Throughout the comic Viktor pushes whatever boundaries Eli tries to set up, does things that throw Eli off balance (The first 'session' for example is done without explaining in any way what kind of work Viktor does,) and otherwise is a point of confusion and mystery to Eli.
That is not to say the character is not interesting or poorly written. Eli is our focus character for a reason after all, we are supposed to be off put and confused by Viktor just as much as Eli is. I'd say it makes him a worthwhile character.
But yeah doc is toxic AF but it's not a flaw, it's the point.
