Weeeeeell, to be fair the meat of physics problems is the process of getting to the answer.

A lot of professors choose to fail you on a problem if you don't outline and write out every step, i.e. use a value somewhere that you seemingly pulled out of nowhere.

I've actually had a teacher like this.he didn't want to secretly screw me or anything, but he legitimately hated me for some reason or another,and he critiqued everything I ever did in his class. Nothing I did was ever good enough for him,and he always shied away from giving me a perfect score and sometimes even a passing score on my work...asshole.

Had this exact same teacher but she was mid 30's bitch. Since we had alphabetical order seating, I was put next to the teachers pet due to our last names. One day, her niece was watching the class because she also wanted to be a teacher. Accidently bumped my elbow on the teachers pet when bending down to get my bag. Quickly apologized but teachers pet goes crying to the niece. I explain what happened and told teachers pet I was sorry, it was a accident. Niece demands a apology from me to apologize to the teachers pet again and to her for causing conflict. I said no and ask my side desk mate if they heard me already apologize, they did and the class backed me (they really hated the teachers pet as well). She gets upset and goes crying to her aunt. The teacher was already a hard bitch who acted like the Boar during test.

Teacher demands I comes out the classroom and says "how dare you disrespect my niece and cause a revolt in my classroom". Like seriously? She demands I apologize and I said no because I did nothing wrong because these 3 assholes were blowing things out of proportion. She gets close to my face and starts rambling but I really do not remeber but I asked her if this was her shark week (I was really a smart mouth). She says I have detention for the rest of year. Since then she was even more of a hard ass on my exams, but I still manage to get B's since I did put in some effort. Went to detention for 3 days, thought this was stupid and reported her to the principle for abuse of power and got other students who witness the scene and got off scot free. For the rest of the year she hated my guts but was worth it.

Seriously, why be a teacher if you hate kids or are going to be asshole about it, their are more jobs that pays more than a teacher with benefits like working as a post office official which is a government job.

if nanoff is telling a story about an asshole teacher, then fine. I trust his storytelling skills to know this story will be going somewhere interesting! However, I don't think that this is an asshole for the sake of being an asshole. My prediction is this teacher is the type for, I'm only hard on you cuz I care/ your potential is great.

p.s. Did he actually put some real math equations? that's pretty ballsy if it's actually correct!

Also, this is university right? As cold as it is there is no guarantee pass in university especially if someone only put in minimal effort, otherwise the degree is worthless.
Having a bit of hard time imagine a professor actually remembering a student, they probably see hundreds of them every day.

I think people have a point, missing the gap between conduction and valence bands is a pretty big mistake and the fact that the student doesn't understand what's wrong with his diagram shows he doesn't understand the subject.

I know Nanoff is Argentinian. Do they refer to their teachers/professors as "sir" in that country? It's way less formal in America. We just refer to our professors by their first name. Also, judging by the cover, I think the boar guy is going to take control XP

I did have a Spanish teacher tell us we US Americans are a laughingstock for being obsessed with exact punctuality compared to most/all Spanish speaking countries. She said being a bit late isn't considered the massively unacceptable thing it is in the USA. I have no idea if that's true.

Well seeing the panel and looking at the dialogue you are right in some aspects but the last part of the comic got to me.

There are professors will mark you wrong give you a failing grade BUT will actually try to teach you on why is it a mistake and give you advice on how to tackle the problem and even give you examples on different ways to analyze the problem.

And there are those that it is just a job. "Hey you are failing, try to study harder next time". Dude I have spending time and money while working with a part time job. I know it takes effort but can you try to teach. Hate professors that will just copy paste from a book and never explain the material. If that is the case I wish going to class isn't required since I can read fine at home, it's a waste of commute and my time.

Ok off topic, in the panel did he actually say what is wrong with the diagram AND what is the correct diagram. He just said the diagram is wrong. Well I expect that it goes along the lines of "Diagram should look like this or that. If you did this diagram in an actual model something something will happen"

Amazes me that planet fitness can sell people on the whole “judgement free”. The lunk alarm is so fucking stupid. Certain things you have to drop the weights or you will hurt yourself. I promise you even at the most hardcore gym no one gives a fuck about you unless you’re being a douche or making a huge fool out of yourself. In fact everyone I’ve met at my gym is very nice, and will offer help with things, spot you, etc. Also going to a more expensive gym keeps out the cruft like kids just coming in and fucking around, or people just sitting around taking photos in the mirror. What pisses me off about Planet Fitness is that it preys on people's insecurities. Cant speak for America, but in Australia, all the gyms I been so far I have not experience or even seen a gym bully. (I mainly go for snap fitness).
The worst thing I encountered so far are teens who spray deodorant every minute and hovers around one machine for half an hour. People who have the kind of money lying around that a lot of artists expect in exchange for their art don't bother with pirating as long as they don't have to go through too convoluted a process to pay for it. Most people who pirate do it either because it's easier than getting the content through official channels, or because they can't afford to pay for it.
There are a few people who would pirate regardless, but they're the minority.

Patreon has helped with this similarly to how Steam did for games. Content all in one place and typically at more affordable prices due to the crowdfunding nature of the subscriptions means much easier access for the consumer. That said, you won't eliminate piracy while poverty still exists. People will spend more money on luxury when they feel financially stable.

For what it's worth, although I'm not an artist my skills are in programming and the game I'm developing won't have any DRM if I reach release with it. I have other projects that are free and open source, too.

If the professor stats nitpicking and not passing people for having simply memorized the stuff, they get lower pass-through rates and the faculty will start to get on their case. It stops students from advancing in the degree mill, more people drop out and the rest are delayed by a year or two because they have to re-take that course. That means less $$$ for the faculty and takes up more of the professor's time, which means worse education outcomes for the rest. In practice, you have to pass people who don't understand the subject.

That's just how education works these days. There's some subjects put in the curriculum by someone who decided that process engineers have to understand quantum mechanics, or that a programmer needs to know about valence bands while they're developing cellphone apps. There's lots of these bottleneck courses that are mandatory, highly specialized, and completely useless because the subjects are entirely too big and difficult for people, so you have thousands of people barely passing by the skin of their teeth, who will never ever touch the subject ever again. The only way 99% of the people pass the courses is by learning the book and throwing it up at the exam.

"Walter had been training with professor Suarez for months when an interesting subject came up during the downtime of one of their private sessions. The aloof professor normally avoided any subject that wasn't the hyena's studies or his weightlifting progress. He often tried to steer the conversation away from each other's private life, attempting to keep things from getting too personal. However, his former student's shyness and lack of experience when it came to gay bars had piqued his interest.

So Suarez mentioned that he's a regular at a bear bar, which he thought Walter would really enjoy visiting. He even offered to escort Walterー that is, if he both did well in his fluid mechanics final, and improved his deadlift one rep max (which had been lagging).

When the semester ended, and Walter indeed met his expectations, the professor happily agreed to go out with him.

The young man was initally very nervous, but loosened up after Suarez got him a drink, and introduced him to a couple of friends, starting some casual conversations. While Suarez took a moment to go to the bathroom, Walter even flirted back and forth with a portly and amicable bear.

However, Walter's attention immediately returned to Suarez as he came back, having removed his shirt due to the heat while keeping his suspenders on. Nanoff basically did that thing a lot of furry artists do where they start off with a character (s) who have a body type that isn't huge and yoked and made some stuff with that character even though it doesn't match their preferred type to look at. Then he decided to make that character have the body type or just one of the body types he prefers to draw, only this time he gave a reason for why this character looks different now.

His rapid growth isn't realistic by any means, if it really was only a year. Nobody's retarded for pointing that out. It can feel a little disappointing when an artist does this since making every character look the same (Suarez=Boomer, Walter=Miles) may start to make the porn look really similar as well.
