for what it is, in all it's artistic beauty, the dark themes of psychological distress are a tad too depressing to enjoy it very much.

The depiction of sex addiction along side general psychological distress, alongside serious narcotic use, mistreatment, desperation for love. Falling in love with a psycho/sociopathic character, self sacraficing behavior.

I couldn't think of a better comic to display artistic representations of childhood trauma than this. This is precisely the dark side of sex addictions and the accompanying social atmosphere that creates it. abusive. neglectful, self sabotaging. Makes me feel sorry for the artist to be honest. They must not have had a very great life if this is what they pull from for inspiration.

Not at all.
If you understand Tarot you can see there's nothing negative about Tusk's perception or feelings towards his mother.
The High Priestess denotes a figure that watches over everything and makes careful and considerate moves, acting carefully and letting things play out as they need to, seeing what others don't.
The Six of Cups denotes fond childhood memories, primarily innocence and having good things happen.
The interpretation I get from that is that Tusk doesn't look at his mother the same way he's starting to view Hex, that of the Devil, which is literally leading into bondage, being controlled and misled and such else, he views his mother as someone that was caring, and his memories with her aren't negative.
Of course, we've yet to see more of the deck, so we'll see how it lays out and if there isn't more to it.
