Art's great, story is pretty lackluster. We need to be told more. Is Orlon a sugar daddy philanthropist, what's his motive for picking up stray guys and then apparently keeping them around for years? Is he also gay? He says Eddie is but makes no mention of himself. If he isn't, why keep Eddie around? The guy was just a random hitchhiker he found several years ago.
Why does Orlon trust Dana? Dana hasn't really done anything to prove hes's deserving of trust. In fact, Orlon knows Dana's violent from the bloody switchblade, and his outburst against Eddie.
Why did Orlon dismiss Eddie so sharply -- and criticize him behind his back to a stranger -- then change his mind and say Eddie should take over therapy with Dana, who grabbed his shirt in a threatening manner, alone? It's implied Orlon is a stern but caring person, yet he treats his supposed friend and peer like some rent boy to bully. He also just leaves the alcohol in the room with an obviously depressed and potentially alcoholic Dana, which contradicts his appearance of having his shit together.
The character motivations and behaviors are all over the place, particularly with Orlon. For the main character, Dana, we need to be shown at least one or two more reasons to actually like him. There's just not a lot to hold on to as a reader.
