I'm honestly getting annoyed by how stupidly Cragenwall is approaching things.
If you don't want to "get off on the wrong foot," then it doesn't cost anything to send a goddamn letter announcing your arrival as well as your intent.
Showing up with your goddamn warship unannounced at the enemy stronghold is quite literally ASKING for war, not diplomacy.
Also, do they seriously still believe that Dragons hold the orb? Do they have no means with which to track it? They had spies stationed in the area, did their spies not search for it? Surely they must have SOME criterion with which to say, "okay, looks like you guys really DON'T have what we're looking for, so sorry about all of that, we'll be on our way now."
What, do they want to search the entire castle? If so, they should have asked to be given leeway to search - something that is quick and easy and wastes no lives on either side. If they were scared of the enemy moving it to another location, well, they already blew the chance to ensure otherwise by revealing themselves earlier on!
Given that Cragenwall values their secrecy, the more they engage in combat and reveal their technology, the weaker their hand becomes. Dealing with things before it gets to that point should be vastly preferred.
But nope! These guys have their heads up their asses cuz they think they're sooo much better than everyone else. So they're just gonna cosplay Leroy Jenkins and take what they want by force, because that totally doesn't clash with their stated objectives of secrecy.
