Ye the faces are a problem,
he made a character that actually looked somewhat decent
"Avalon" the first versions of him were fine then he changed his design for
the comic and I was like.

HELL NO!!

He completely threw the dragon snout out of the window went with smooth one
THOSE FUCKING LIPS then the hair were more stream like not curly like
the color is the same and it is still shit should went with white/silver hair
the horns were more visible and body was more muscular
(fit the bard a lot more in my opinion)

PS: picture perfectly shows how he looked before those changes (it's a sketch but white hair suits him better in my opinion)

The faces are very "Human in star trek/star wars wearing prosthetics" kinda style of trying to do non humans.

they're silly sometimes, other more complex, he knows how to make realistic situations around sex and fetishes and resolve them in a realistic way (it's still a fantasty ok, nut if a place like this really excited guys working there would act like this, if you've been around sex workers you know how sex positive they can be and openly slutty they like to play)

Idk, it's just porn, but it's good and does the trick, it doesn't try to tell me a totally too long story about characters I don't care, and when this guy tried to do that, he made a good drama about family and other prejudices around gay love

PBM/FMC has changed his style radically at least twice over the past two decades, and I imagine that he will again eventually. I just enjoy hisolder stuff while I wait for him to realize that the increased (subtle) expressiveness of the more human-like faces doesn't make up for the fact that it's super uncanny and looks like bad movie makeup.

That’s a reasonable take, and I think it’s a valid criticism on his art in general.
That being said, unless it’s something he expresses irl I disagree with doing psychoanalysis though just fictions, especially porn drawn for his consumers’ fantasies. (Well I assume it is making money considering people are still reading his works and donating to his Patreon).
Therapy should be encouraged but such advice should also come from a place of understanding and social support. Shouting it across an anonymous board repeatedly just seems like overreaching.

Lots of 80's comics and artists did photo collages and traced over them, so that's where you get this "too perfect for a cartoon" style where the quality and details keep changing from panel to panel. Sometimes you're going freehand, sometimes you're tracing a photo or a combination of different photos, and changing things.

When you do the same with animal people or fantasy aliens, it starts to look like floppy rubber masks on actors because your references are all from slightly different perspectives. If this was a moving picture, you could literally see lips and noses moving out of sync with the heads, like in one of those Late Night Show sketches where they superimpose someone else's talking lips on top of another person's photo. In a still comic panel, you can get away with lots of errors by simply leaving out the detail that would reveal it. If you can't hide it, you have to lean into it and kinda exaggerate it to mask the effect as a stylistic choice.
