Totally agree. It's evoking an uncanny valley feeling in most viewers because there is something plain off and unbalanced about the faces. As you said, you can make 'real' looking anthro faces without the creepy quality. I think the artist genuinely has no sense of aesthetic when it comes to the faces because he is not trying to be aesthetic. I suspect his sexuality first developed watching Star Trek and that live action Beauty and the Beast, and he's associated these 'rubber mask' looks with 'hot furries' ever since.

Yes, it's an acquired taste, but the Ricky's butt in this page makes it worth the fap. The author is also very dynamic: in just few pages we already know a good amount of background of the two main chars and sex already happened (oral), and it does not seem rushed at all. This is not like most nowadays porn comics with 100+ pages with little sex and virtually no plot.

Also, this is miles better than the stuff that Aaron and MrStallion is releasing nowadays.

I remember a comic of a beefy bottom bear and a top bull dude in a gym. The bear dude has a very feminine 'face' and it makes me wonder that comic was made by the same artist, but I think the answer is no.

The faces do appear to be a common issue folks have. I can't say I don't see it.

The art in general is actually pretty well done. Proportions and angles are good. It's just.. yhea, there is some weird uncanny valley stuff going on with those faces; especially the clearly more 'femmenine' ones he tries doing.

The artist is amazing at their craft, so faces are a conscious choice by the artist. It's something they like or a way they choose to be distinct. Try to appreciate the amazing skill of what the artist is pulling off here and look past it, or see what else you can find. There's a ton of straight porn out there that I don't bother with because I'm gay. Basically the same thing here.

Oh it's 100% a deliberate choice by the artist - which I can respect. He does know his craft extremely well - and back when he still went under "Falcon McCooper" he drew faces alot differently, so he absolutely can. It seems like somewhere down the line he took some inspiration from how BNG draws faces (especially equines) and cranked it to 11.

Okay so if you use your hand (or finger if you're on mobile) to cover up the snout in the bottom left panel, it looks like the horse dude has a ridiculously handsome elven face, with beautiful hair, luscious lashes and cheekbones for days.

And then you remove your hand/finger and realize the artist literally just drew a giant horse snout and puffy clown lips on top of that handsome elven face.

I finally get why their faces look so fucking weird. They're literal human faces wearing weird animal facemasks.

It looks fine, great even - to me at least.

A lot of furry faces are actually pretty horrific, if you stop to really look at them, to be honest. I like these. Inimitable in style and kind of realistic, even if, again, they're ridiculous furries. Maybe it's an acquired taste since this might be the third time I've seen a comic from this artist and the first time was shocking.

I heavily disagree, most furry faces are NOT horrific. Alot of them are more cartoony so it works, even some of the more realistic leaning ones don't look horrifying because they get the anthro ratio rate or a style that doesn't exaggerate human lips so hard

Agreed! You can see this in particular when talented folks like Nesskain do 3D sculpts and prints of anthro characters. Bringing a character into 3D space like that is the real test of appealing proportions and designs, and I'll say there's a lot of seriously hot anthro models out there!

This could very well be the case, depending on whose works you expose yourself to (and what you consider aesthetically pleasing). Myself, I have two places I frequent for furry art. I come across a lot of forgettable faces, in those two venues. Sure. Many generic, cookie cutter faces. Even faces, where it's obvious the artist can't grapple with the idea of masculine guys being gay with each other, because to them that's simply not possible or desirable.

Fine.

But then there's this. It's sad and frustrating for members of the audience like me to witness. Obviously PBM's technique and style isn't /bad/, by any stretch. PBM's skill is quite up there. I readily admit this. It's just the decision he makes with the faces.

As early as this comic's third page, second panel, he can't help but incorporate feminine elements to the bear's face. So not only do we have to deal with uncanny, but we have to deal with uncanny with a forced mixture of feminine along with the masculine.

I would sooner prefer PBM sticks with women in his comic endeavors...Is what I would say, except he couldn't help himself with the old lady in page 23, where she has prominent masculine features unnecessarily incorporated in her face. Ugh. PBM has to be trolling us. Challenging masculine/feminine gender norms in a very misguided, counterproductive way.
