Also, OP here. Fuck I lost my train pass yesterday, so im pretty late in taking the train. Gonna be there around 11.30am (it opens 10am). Hopefully none of the saturday material im aiming for arent sold out by the time i get there. I've seen doujins run out within the first hour when i got on the first day.

I was thinking that if you take into account the cost of printing/transportation and small distribution scale, then artist get paid a pittance.
Like if you sell 100 copies of a 12 page doujin for 300 yen you make 20000 yen (100 yen of expenses per copy). If it took you 3 hours per page you made 555yen/hour, which is below minimum wage.

For most of them, bulk printing is shit cheap, I can assume. Transport costs can be cut down by picking up on your own. Though the trains here do cost a lot, though. A single transfer costs about a doujin, lmao

he's hands down my favorite furry artist but for the last couple years he's been severely decreasing his output.

But if your panic is indeed sincere then there's things you can do.
You could ship all the books you got to your home address. Or if you're not that fond of having the books in actual physical condition, then get yourself a scanner and scan the books where you're staying at. Afterwards you can just toss the physical books.

Depending on the country you're returning to even porn comics can be very well illegal and that will cost you various occasions, again depending on the country.
And besides that, some people working there get their kicks out of being in such kind of power control over you and will take unnecessary detailed looks at your luggage(checking if there's stuff hidden inside books between pages etc.)

OP here. Got to C92 again because of my fucker of a roommate, who wanted to leave with me, but he was late.

After some fiscal analysis, i decided to only spend on kemo books that i wanted. Of which i will show a pic of the loot later on.

When i came to japan from my home country, they dont really check for stuff in my carry-on. However, not sure if the same will be otw back.

This 9animals is such a scam. A bunch of drawn selfies and still pictures, the usual content you can waste your money on at patreon with those image packs.
Jin used to be really great when he was producing those full manga like inJ or Oresen. But since he got an audience that enables him to continue with this 9animal series, there's nothing that can be done, sadly.
At least this series should end sometime next year...

My own opinion on the matter completely aside, it surely is a scam and people still fall for it.

First of all, many artists apply for a booth at Comiket and not all get chosen. Jin got his booth and brings a doujin the size of a mere copybook, that's it. Where's the effort?
Artists that weren't chosen had full-on doujin manga prepared.
Sure it's a lucky draw which circle gets chosen, but still it makes you wonder.

He knows that many people love his artwork even so much that he can get away with producing those short low quality doujin.
Good for him I guess.

First, yeah, it's unfortunate if some people really got skipped over but what can you do? Resources are limited and artists still have other avenues to sell their work; Pixiv booth is pretty easy to setup, I think.
Second, quantity has little to do with quality or effort or whether people would actually want to buy it.
Third, "can get away with it"? Lol, he makes short doujins with little to no story, presents them as such and sells them for cheap. He's not getting away with anything, just offering a type product people seem to enjoy. Sucks you can't be one of them.

Hope you find something else to sate your desires.
