Identity is an enriched, interactive, furry (though mostly scalie) horror visual novel and dating sim, filled with thrilling suspense and memorable characters. 

Created around the "butterfly effect" concept, the narrative will adapt to the choices you make throughout the novel and build up towards many different scenarios and endings. The clues and items you find while playing will also open up new possibilities, and may even have a crucial role in deciding the outcome of the story. 

The game will also feature a complex relationship system and dating sim elements. Every character in the game will be befriendable and dateable, each with their own personality, preferences and backstory. The choices you make will influence your relationship with them, and may determine who will help you in dire situations!

ok... I don't think I've ever seen the words complex and dating sim in the same sentence before, but sure, let's go for that

Dire situations? What genre is this dating sim/visual novel/fap book supposed to be?

This seems like a lot for a furry whatever this is supposed to be... Have they set developmental milestones or have any type of project timeline established?

Unfortunately, I find it hard to support these type of projects, as furries, as a whole, have routinely showed a distinct lack of project management skills.

I was mostly being sarcastic. While I generally like visual novels, its hard to take one seriously when they use terms like "butterfly effect" to make it sound like there going to have some groundbreaking innovation in story-telling. It's essentially the furry equivalent of the No Man's Sky sales pitch.

Also, the never ending development process seen in other projects *cough*Kemocolesium*cough*, have made me very skeptical of any Patreon project, especially new ones.

I admit that I did miss the note saying it was a horror themed, visual novel/dating sim. Mostly as horror and dating sims are high on my list of two things that should probably never go together.

Identity Visual Novel - Update a.02

The second update is now live for $3+ Patrons!

- New characters: Cedrik and Kovie
- New path stated. To check it out, choose the option "On the mountain ridge" on the first choice menu.
- Reworked the beginning scene.
- Added more backgrounds to the forest glade door scene.
- Notice: Kovie is still very much a WIP and his character design can be subject to change.

Hell yeah! We've stepped up our design game, switching from the old Victorian theme to a more 'Neo-Noir' aspect, with modern touches!
The logo is the first design element to undergo this rework. It's still a work-in-progress, though, not necessarily final.

Don't worry, those are just editorial notes. We use them to point out to people that a major asset (such as a rather important scene/sprite/etc) is in development atm and needs to be implemented in that exact spot. However, we don't want to just fade it all to a blackscreen, or to use blank backgrounds with in-development titles (pointed out by the engine that they're missing :P )

We want the game to seem cursive despite it being very much at the beginning of its development. Thus, we agreed that it would be a cool idea to just use the dialogue system to notify people about it instead ^^

As the assets get created, we will replace these editorial notes with the actual goodies.

Only the sex scene is non-canon for the time being, the characters are still canon. Basically, the sex scene was part of the first demo, but was taken down because it was only there for demo purposes, it wouldn't make sense for the MC to just get rescued and then bang right off the bat with a stranger.

Also, emphasis on 'for the time being', as they said it may be possible for the sex scene to be re-implemented later on as part of the main game, but as of now the scene is considered separated from the main game.

Now, let's address the elephant in the room here... that is indeed the infamous a.01 shower sex scene between the MC and Garreth. This scene is raw, unfinished and non-canon, first and foremost. It started as just a 'demo' presented in our very first release, Update a.01. We took it away since a.02 because it was pretty obvious that it was just a forcing porn. It made no sense that, after having almost died, the MC would instantly want to have sex with his savior, a complete stranger otherwise.

Nevertheless, we wanted to portray a little sexual demo so that you guys could get a feel of how those scenes are gonna play out. Yet, due to popular demand, here we are, 6 updates later, reintroducing it into the game as a fun little Easter egg for you to enjoy again :P

It can be accessed by starting a new game and selecting "Play Demo Sex Scene". Both the submissive and dominant routes are available, however it's important to state again that they are raw, unfinished and non-canon until further notice (hence why they're separated from the main story).

Hey guys! We've been reworking our sprites lately and decided to share some with you! This is Cedrik's full body on the new (naked) neutral pose.

As you can tell, we've made two different versions (flats for now). This is because, while we were making his feet (originally supposed to have 3 digits separated by membranes, to help him swim), we also found his 4 digit without membranes setup to be quite nice-looking.

So we want to ask you guys, which version of these do you like/think would fit him the most? Let us know in the comments!

Butterfly effects in the game are similar to how you described them the first time.
Based on the player's choices, they will advance through different story arcs, will experience different situations and reach different endings.
And it's not just the choices that will affect that, it's also gonna be the clues you find throughout the game. That's also going to be a mechanic.

Oh man, I really enjoyed the demo so far. I really like how this VN is going so far, the mystery of the protag is keeping me engaged, the brief horror elements that sometimes pop up are pretty well executed and I'm actually really curious to know more about the characters.
Brym's surprisingly my favorite out of the cast so far, since I usually tend to keep away from the asshole characters, even more so characters who are violent, but he just captured all of my attention! A childhood friend, who's apparently not gay, but gets really embarrassed when we do pervy stuff to him? Oh boy, what a cutie.
I'm looking forward to see where this goes!

I'm kind of skeptical about the rewrite, but that is mostly due to (imo) the monthly releases so far. I do hope by the time they release the rewrite, something is going somewhere, as the post didn't explicitly state what to look forward to.

Played the new version a bit
I'm liking it so far, the only thing I should point out is the fact that some dialogue seems a bit too skimped out
For example, during the gym scene (I'm paraphrasing a bit) -"What's your name?" -"Cedrik." or -"I don't remember anything, I swear!" and Brym instantly accepts it
I'm not really a writer bit I think there could be more depth in it

Anyway I'm looking forward for the next updates

For me it is... I think the closest I can describe is... underwhelming? The great improvement I liked was that the flow of this visual novel is more straightforward instead of being all over the place. Though that said there were some unnecessary actions that I questioned if they were intending to split them into different dialogue choices at some point in the development. An example can be seen during the beginning when you start up the game. Up until the door part, you be clicking the one choice presented which is no different than when you click to go to the next part of the dialogue. Kind of like the dialogue "choices" in Digimon Cyber Sleuth, but hey at least we have one choice to view instead of three that leads to the same answer.

For the characters, it was stated that there would be quite the difference compared to the old version. I'll be describing the main four in version 0.1.12 with this new one plus the MC:

MC: Personally I like the idea of the choices that build upon on how we would depict the character, which fits the new game summary. However there are some parts of the game that snaps off the immersion due to no prior establishment, most notably when the game describes your appearance.... the next day.
Brymror: While he did tone down personality-wise, his actions and speech is a janky mood-swing. One minute he's the guy we knew since the beginning, the next he becomes a caring juvenile that is just a tick down from his usual nature
Cedrik: There wasn't much interaction in that I had in 0.1.12 to know if anything change, but despite the seemingly unchanged characterization, it feels like he did change, probably because he got more screen time.
Kovle: Didn't seem to change much at all....
Garreth: Compared to the others, personally he seems to be the one that is different. For me he does a 180 from a guy caring about your well-being to a flirty laid back guy, not that I have a problem with this.

There were a few places that the game lampshades about the game's development, which I don't know if its charming or annoying.

Overall if I had to describe this demo to a newcomer, this one is a cockblock and I'm saying this politely. It seems to discourage anything that goes in a sexual direction, possibly attempting to punish you for being horny if given the chance. So any people who were initally interested in finding anything sexy... Well, at best will get vanilla since this is a "new" demo. As for the story plot itself I personally Spoiler

The wait is now going to be painfully long for a more meaningful update since they will resume their monthly delay....

Hello everyone, as we previously announced in our news posts, this is an update which will fix some errors from the rework. This update also reintroduces the mobile version and provides better handling of the textbox overflow edge cases.

Although there is no new writing content, we have added lots of art that has been pilling up over the last weeks to fill out the gaps left by the rewrite and make our game pretty again.

With 0.2.1, we are merely bringing the public version up to snuff before we release the next content update, due sometime during the following few weeks.

Also I find it hard to navigate this program, its probably my screen is too small, and messing around with the size setting isn't helping...

It is a new engine test and they explained that interface scaling still needs lots of work, they wanted to test the standard visual novel features like showing dialogue and media and story progression/saving. They'll be releasing something soon as they were saying in the latest character design post, they just waited for this long because they lacked artwork and the new content would have just been a black screen story otherwise.

Hey guys! First off, we're sorry for keeping you waiting with this public release. We originally intended to release v0.2.3 at the end of January, however we realized the new content would be mostly just text over a black screen. We lacked a lot of art assets for it, so we decided to push it back by a few weeks and let our artists fill these gaps. We're now almost ready to release it, so in anticipation, we prepared v0.2.2 for everyone to see!

In 0.2.2 we have a couple of artwork additions to the content from the rewrite, like a nice and snazzy bar. Content wise, we wanted to show off what to expect from the dating paths of characters, so you will get not just one, but three dates with Kovle. (However they are also mostly text over a black screen for now... text has been moving forward faster than art (a stark contrast from a year ago xD), but expect these dates to progressively get livelier as we get more assets in!
