I never read the original, but I'm digging it so far, wasn't sure at the beginning, but it got me more and more as it went on. Seems like they're putting in some Echo-esque tension/horror in the background which is nice.

Also Haps art has evolved beautifully, I get if some people miss the more stylized sprites, but the backgrounds and CG's are something else, I think he's really come into his own there. Only one that seemed a lil odd was the covered in blood one, don't think it was getting across the mood of the scene super well, but literally no problems about the rest of it visually.

Neferu's ass and bulge was also 10/10 in those bits.

Ending of the build was a little awkward tho, dunno if I would've included the female voice at the end, makes it end awkwardly instead of keeping the vibe from the nightmare as it was happening. Can just have the next build start on her voice coming through if need be.

I still can't get over the new Amicus sprite. It's hideous. Other sprites are bad as well, but his so bad it's distracting. I appreciate the fact that Howly paid for new sprites even though he could have reused the old ones, but in the end it only made the game look worse.

I don't think it's hideous per se, but they do feel much more stiff and awkward looking. Which could be intentional in Amicus' case at least, this isn't Amicus hanging out with his fucktoy human anymore, its the emperor being stared at by one of his subjects. I think it'd be fine if it just wasn't staring so directly forward

I wouldn't call the new sprites "hideous" But I don't like them. They look exaggerated and unnatural to me. The older sprites where nicer looking. Also the story changes are jarring and kinda weird.

This. I don't get why his sprites were revised making him more flamboyant "or a baddie" when its unnecessary. Sure his character is charismatic and flirtatious, yet his sprites from the original manage to give him some sass as well as the reservedness later hinting on his enigmatic side we later pick up throughout Adastra. A couple months ago someone on the old thread talks over the sprites and why they didn't like it and I totally agree.

General Project Update (Interea/Khemia)



Hello everyone,

Howly here. Sorry for the lull in communication. After some difficulties with writing and creating assets, Haps and I have mutually decided to focus fully on Khemia. While we still plan to work on Interea, there is more creative momentum behind Khemia. Because of this, we've decided to fully focus development on Khemia with the goal of releasing an update each month, though we hope to revisit Interea later this year. Sorry for the confusion and the delays this has caused, but we feel it's important to Keep Adastra's story moving. While we haven't discussed the future of the story publicly, we do have an end goal in mind for the series.

Right now, we’re on track to release the fourth build of Khemia this weekend. The public version of the third build will be released sometime in the first half of this month. In the meantime, you can see one of the illustrations Haps has worked on that will appear in the public version of the third build, along with a background that will appear in the new build. I'm not to optimistic on Haps working on the background art, but whatever happened to Stranj or Blacksun? Back when Khemia initially released, Stranj was in charge of the art and Blacksun made their return for Interia. I find it odd how neither made their return on the revamp.

I'm not optimistic on Haps being on the project at all. His art has deteriorated badly in the last two years, and I used to love the guy's art. And to boot, he keeps degenerating into the most repulsive fetish/kink content. Seriously, all his latest content is repulsive.

That aside, he's a dramafag. Everywhere he goes, he starts shit. I don't even know why they keep him, but parted ways with the TSR guy who consistently delivered.

Also I feel weird in actually preferring Haps new art style, it's more sexually appealing, nice chests, and also asses/dicks worth a damn (the nsfw pics in adastra sucked tbh, no ass on that man and the dick not much better. Interea's bits of NSFW was a huge improvement imo, at least in the bits that appeal to me.)

To break it down he starts shit with "reviewing" or feeling a need to say some unhinged crap every other hour coming off as some pubescent dickhead. It's just common knowledge in his kind of position that you don't boast about someone's work or your own, I mean Kael learned it the hard way. Yet when confronted about it, he goes off on this manchild rampage on anyone he sees as a threat including loyal fans. It's also well documented on how many individuals he's worked with were mistreated both publicly and privately. And no, Redd was not the first to speak on it as I recall Jasperhuxley spoke on his experience around 2021.

Also we’re not going to pretend like Tsr was getting stale overtime. Mind you I don't mean visually, the art is outstanding and I liked the direction it was going as the "Buy a man some hooch." animations are a welcomed addition. Such examples in my case are the conflict with Sam's character and sexuality losing its impact, almost laughable just taking into consideration how everyone and their goldfish are gay. Also multiple cases of tone issues and it surprises me as its Echos strongest factor. This might be a hot take, but I think Tsr should've been handed to Mcskinny if it wasn't for him working on Echo atm or even when George left, but he's currently working on ARTP.

I believe so as they each have a distinctive name representing each world. Kemetarians and Romanus if I'm correct. Though I remember this being hinted in Adastra when Marco had one of his discourse with the monitor. They're referred to as a collective as they have an influence on the siblings no matter their supremacy.

I'm also glad to finally see Neferus siblings and both are interesting in their own respect. Sad to see Haps didn't stick with their original designs as they were far superior than what we ended up with, especially Ramoses like what happened? Aya really took the spotlight tho and she kind of reminds me of another character from a certain anime. Anyways I believe she knows more than she lets on outside of her meditation practices. Not to say she can't be trusted, but it's odd how quick she kindled a friendship with Scipio. This could be the “help” that Meera was referring to. Unpopular opinion but so far find Aya and Skips dynamic more engaging than with him and Nef. This issue was apparent in the original prologue as I feel their relationship felt rushed and this time around the narrative has to hold your hand and remind you about their relationship every 10 mins. The cues Amicus and Aya give to Scipio convinces me it's Howlys way of hinting Nef being endgame with some setbacks of course. Not to get it twisted, I love Neferu, but I do wish Howly ironed out the prologue a bit more to make their relationship believable or less forced. We'll see how things take off

There are some indications of matchmaking them when it was originally released, especially now that Amicus is involved more and with Aya being introduced. I mean the first teaser we ever got was along the lines of remembering a time when they fell in love and nearly everyone's initial impression on the statement was it being connected with Marco back in the day. To say the least, for it to transpire or in your words being “endgame” is still in the air. Over the years I've had this suspicion on trusting Neferu when I go back to Adastra or Khemias initial build. There's some crumbs I've picked up on his character or demeanor that prompted me to be wary of him, but it's just a theory of mine.

I also found Aya compelling and see potential in her. There isn't much to go on when it comes to trusting her, yet I agree Aya is a piece of a puzzle or the bigger picture. I'm surprised Scipio didn't use his mental telepathy to get a lead of the Pharaoh's whereabouts, but I assume he has a lot on his mind along with getting the hang of it.
