I'm no writer, though I like the bit of subtext in Monique's (mis)handling of this situation. It was a nice touch.
Whether or not her intentions are well founded, she's overstepping her boundaries on an emancipated adult's (18) life choices now. The window of being 'the parent' has closed, for better or worse. She even expressed that she knew that.
It was interesting that after her big speech on 'letting go'; she gives the neighbor her number (for spying purposes), gets reaffirmations from another girlfriend (over wine), and then proceeds to go back on all of it, meddles, and potentially destroys two relationships in the process. One of them with her own son... (and with full intent). She even projected the damage onto Kyra by claiming that Kyra was "dragging him into", rather than recognizing him as a party with any say in the matter/choice/will of his own.
in short: helicopter parents... They never prepare/let their kids grow into prosperous adults if they can help it.
Good story, though I do hope it resolves back into a fetish comic, the drama is a bit taxing.
